The important role of women within the farming and agriculture industry will be celebrated at an International Rural Women’s Day lunch event in Home Hill this coming Tuesday (15 October 2019).
Hosted by Women in Sugar Burdekin Inc and Queensland Sugar Limited (QSL), the luncheon will feature guest speaker Dr Connar McShane, who will talk on the value of women and connections in building resilient and sustainable rural communities.
Raised on a family farm in the Burdekin, Dr McShane now works with farmers, industry and regional development groups to build social and economic growth within rural farming communities.
QSL Treasury Manager Ginette Barrett will also address the event and provide an update on the current sugar market.
The International Rural Women’s Day Lunch starts at noon on Tuesday 15 October at the Burdekin Motor Inn Bridge Bar and Restaurant.
